CocoAndré has been a Dallas based chocolatier since 2009, and is run by expert Andrea Pedraza, who can boast over 30 years of experience in chocolate making. A family owned establishment, Andrea makes the chocolates and runs the shop with the help of her daughter Cindy Pedraza. Their shop is located near the trendy Oak Cliff neighborhood Bishop Arts, and housed in a cute 1917 restored house complete with a porch sitting area. When I heard the news that they started offering vegan-friendly truffles and bark, I had to go check it out!
The truffles are hand rolled water ganache truffles, and at present only really come in one flavor. However, when I picked my own box up, Andrea had been so generous as to create a few varying flavors to give me a choice! A few were flavored with earl grey tea, and some were topped with different delights like flavored salt or coffee grounds. They don’t often have them in the shop ready made, so you will probably have to call ahead and order them. They started making these truffles due to requests, but don’t seem to have a big enough demand yet to make them available in the shop every day. It’s pretty much my goal to tout these little chocolate wonders to our local vegan community to change that because they are amazing! It’s so exciting to have a locally made artisan chocolate option now, and since CocoAndré seems very open to listen to their customers, perhaps we can persuade them to create other options in the future!
The water ganache filling inside of these truffles is so luscious and they immediately melt in your mouth. The chocolate shell has a perfect snap, creating a textural chocolate euphoria. If you’re a local Dallas area vegan, you simply must try CocoAndré!
